Kansas versus Intelligence. Again.
May. 13th, 2005 12:25 pmWell, if you've been paying attention to things which actually affect you and not the gyrations of the Kansas state board which decides which textbooks the public schools will use, you may have missed the fact that some Creationists have been attacking the theory of evolution. Again.
I'm not at all surprised that these people exist. What does (mildly) surprise me is that they've been given a serious hearing. Which ended yesterday, BTW, with almost no discussion of the science involved but quite a bit of name-calling. Here's one of my favorite excerpts:
A proposal now before the board would incorporate greater criticism of the theory of evolution and allow alternatives to be taught. It would also change the definition of science to allow for explanations that do not rely on natural causes.
<Onion-mode>In related news, Kansas human-health textbooks will criticize the theory of genetics and allow teachers to claim that babies are brought by the Stork.</Onion-mode>
