Beer Review: Magic Hat Batch 370
Jun. 23rd, 2005 09:56 pmThe good hippies at Magic Hat Brewery (warning: their site is infected with Flash; no flash-player, no content) have come up with a new brew, which they call "Batch 370". It is a hefeweizen, and as I've always said, hefeweizen is better than none.
However, despite their best intentions, this Batch has a sour tang to it which I can't call truly pleasant. Like all hefeweizens, this should be served chilled. It's got a decent head on it. It's a decent hot-weather beverage.
But for all that, I'm still only luke-warm on it. Comparing it to Harpoon's UFO ("Un-Filtered Offering"), it comes out weaker.
Experimentation is important. Some experiments fail utterly. "Batch 370" didn't fail utterly; it just didn't quite work. Better luck next time, Magic Hat. They can't all be #9 Ale or Fat Angel.
