For those of you who don't follow baseball, Matt Clement is a starting pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. Eight days ago, he was hit in the side of the head by a line drive that was so fast, he literally did not have time to block it. It hit the boniest part of his skull, the ridge between the ear and temple.
He's pitching today. Can he throw the ball? Sure. But can he keep his nerve if a batter hits a ball toward him?
That is grit.
