Postprandial Ramblings
Nov. 23rd, 2007 10:18 amOfficially, today is a work day at my company. However, we also have the "floating holiday" concept, so a huge number of us are using it today; others are burning a vacation day. Last I heard we estimate that only 25% of the company will actually be in the office, and that includes the IT guys who are updating some system-wide stuff today instead of on Saturday.
Breakfast: apple pie and a leftover opened bottle of Winter Warmer, apparently untouched.
We do have a pair of house-guests:
trowa_barton and
hammercock, the latter of whom is still recovering from >12 hours of jet lag. But my hellions apparently didn't know this, and so they were practicing their Yuletide Carols quite loudly together this morning. Amazingly, this doesn't seem to have woken our guests. Unamazingly, it woke their parents just fine.
The Scooba is all charged and ready to run, just as soon as the guests really are awake. Our Thanksgiving guests were well behaved yesterday, but two dozen people doing anything with that much food is going to make the floor sticky.
There was a round of thanks for
goddessfarmer for raising such a tasty bird.
I will be writing a beer review later for those we served: Wachusett's Winter Ale, Harpoon's Winter Warmer, and Gritty McDuff's Christmas Ale. All three were roughly the color of the bottles' brown glass. My weissbier and pilsner glasses all got used, and there were some drinking from the bottles after that; this is atypical for our Thanksgivings, but certainly not unwelcome.
Unfortunately, our dishwasher is showing signs of improper behavior, so we'll probably have to call in an appliance mechanic soon. Pfeh.
