What the Hecque?

Three of my fingernails have long vertical cracks in them.

(One of them is the long nail on my left pinkie, so typing will be awkward for a while.)

I've clipped them down, but some of the cracks shoot past the quick.

What the hecque causes this?

I mean, little white marks in the fingernail can indicate a mineral deficiency (like zinc); I've gone years without any vertical cracks in my nails, and now three at once? What's wrong with me?
