Weekend Update, Nov. 14-16
Nov. 18th, 2008 07:24 amSince sending my younger's sleep-over party guests home Saturday morning (and it was most difficult getting them to leave the chicken run),
tamidon delivered a couple of cakes, and I beat the bushes for a repair kit for our air mattress, which has developed a slow but steady leak. After much phone calling, I found a place with the appropriate kits, drove out to Leominster, only to discover that they lied. However, they did have bicycle repair "patches", which seemed to be general-purpose enough to try.
Saturday night was spent in a tuxedo jacket with tie-dye pleated shirt at
sunspiral's party, which was way too hot and humid, but since when are November weekends in New England in the high 60s at 100% humidity? Stupid weather.
Sunday was spent first at
talandra's memorial service, then at
persis's party, which was also hot and humid, but the weather broke while we were there, and it's been floating around freezing ever since.
Returning home with a small tickle in my throat, I inflated the air mattress, wiped down the seams with soapy water, and failed to find the leak. This is a pain, because the next step is the awkward one of immersing the edges of the fully-inflated mattress in the bathtub; I can't immerse the whole mattress, because this is the model with the electric motor inside the mattress. Normally, I like that design, but normally, I don't have to stick it in water.
(I don't want to buy a new mattress; I like this one. When it doesn't leave people sleeping on the floor after a few hours.)
Life. Still have sore throat. Really don't want it.
