Allies For a Day

Usually, in the interest of maintaining our friendship, yendi and I don't talk football, or only talk about it in the most academic of language.

But today, we're both rooting for the same result in this afternoon's game. We both want the Jets to beat the Dolphins.

Go Jets!

(The Patriots make the playoffs if the Dolphins lose.)

[Edit:] Well, the Jets choked, so the Dolphins won the division, and the Baltimore Ravens beat the Jacksonville Jaguars, so the Patriots are out of the playoffs. They are the first team in at least two decades to win eleven games and nonetheless miss the playoffs. Feh.

To Work or Not To Work

I have two meetings tomorrow; I am allowed to phone in my presence. The first meeting is at 8:30am in this time zone, so I will definitely phone in.

But the second meeting may require more interaction on my part than a simple phone-in can cover.

Not only that, but my parents are back at their home, so my original notion of what this week will be like is kaput.

But the kids are out of school, and tamidon has things to do, so maybe I should stay home.

Or maybe I'll stay home tomorrow (modulo the phone-ins), and go back into work on Tuesday and/or Wednesday. Thursday is a holiday, of course, and I'll most likely take Friday off as well. In fact, the driving force getting me to work on Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday is to get as many hours into a particular contract before the end of the fiscal quarter on Thursday.

But I got the major milestone that I could do done last Wednesday. Depending on how Monday's second meeting goes, I may not have anything concrete to work on.

Except some base-line research.
