Bonding Moment
Jan. 31st, 2009 03:10 pmToday, what with my new tires and everything, I drove my two darling daughters up over the border into Na Hamsha so they could spend their gift certificates at the bookstore. My younger stocked up on dragon books and my elder fed her manga addiction.
Then we had a short errand to run to Trader Joe's. On the way there, the radio started blasting the old Beastie Boys song "No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn". So I cranked it up, we rolled down the windows, banged our heads, and shouted out the chorus each time it came around as the car crawled in 10 mph bumper-to-bumper traffic.
At one point, my younger informed me that other people were staring at us. I responded, "Did you know that some people stop singing in their cars if they think someone else is watching?"
"Why?"
"I don't know." Then the chorus came around again, and all three of us shouted "No! Sleep! 'Til Brooklyn!"
