Two of my friends,
hammercock and
taura_g, will be walking in the 3 Day Walk for Susan G. Komen For The Cure. This is a reputable and effective outfit.
But if you go to the Donation site, you might get scared off because it asks if you want to donate $1000, $500, any spare children, or your fairy godmother's ashes. I think I know why they do that, but that isn't the message you should take from that page.
taura_g, for example, has at least 200 networked friends, and she figures that if each gave $10, she'd make her goal. But I'm sure, if you don't know her, that she'd accept your money too. So go sponsor her. C'mon, pony up. Do without a couple of lattes. Feel smug during your caffeine withdrawal.
Or, if you know our fabulous redhead but don't know our fabulous brunette, then sponsor her instead. It's all going into the same bucket, ultimately, and it's a worthy bucket.
Because breast cancer sucks. Just ask Richard Roundtree.
