Squared Again
Sep. 17th, 2009 07:43 amBirthdays stopped being a big deal to me a long time ago. Sure, we had a "vinyl record theme party" when I turned 45 (old folks: explain that one to the kids), but I mostly just try to use the day as an excuse to get apple pie. Pie is better than cake. *nod*
But I have to admit that I am cheered by the well-wishing that's coming at me from all sides. Yesterday,
alyveritya called me from her dorm room to sing "Happy Birthday" to me; when I pointed out that she was a day early, she explained that her schedule was packed on the day itself, so she called when she could.
Just moments ago, my parents called me and sang. (They're both semi-professional singers, so this isn't as bad as some of you might be thinking.)
And, of course, wishes are flying in from all corners of the social networking intarwebs.
Still no big deal, but definitely very nice.
Oh, and my younger daughter just handed me my birthday cookie.
