Which Sox?

This has not been a good weekend for the Red Sox. We lost three, at home, to the White Sox.

Saturday, both sides of a double-header, by identical scores of 3-1/3-1.

Today, we had it in the bag, but Papelbon blew the save, and we lost 7-5. We had it in the bag!

Arg.

Oh well. We weren't really expecting to get to the play-offs with our bench. Here's hoping for a healthy 2011.

I Do Not Bear Stupid UIs Lightly

...or, in some cases, at all.

"Gwibber" is one of the GNOME packages that Ubuntu 10.04 installed, and I checked it out once. I found it significantly less useful than the actual sites' browser-based interfaces, so I just ignored it.

But after a recent update, it has started popping up on its own, trying to get me to update its Facebook and Twitter interactions. I close it, and it pops up again a few minutes later.

One trip to Synaptic later, and Gwibber is no longer on my machine. At all.

Close when I say "Close", or die.

It's that simple.
