Part the Third: Luggage
Jan. 7th, 2011 09:45 amAs a follow-up, coda, or appendix to the Bad Travel Story, I did get my luggage back on Wednesday, eleven days after it went missing, and nine days after I reported it. (Significantly, USAirways has a "Ten Days Late or More" category, which I just barely didn't qualify for.)
There were tags all over my bag. In Hebrew. And a tracking tag that showed that, yes, my bag did go to Tel Aviv without me, was returned to Philadelphia, and went on to Boston (and then my house) from there.
Absolutely everything that was in my bag or Dopp kit ("toiletries bag") was returned, including the tools that I wasn't allowed to bring in my carry-on bag.
But in my Dopp kit, there was evidence that someone cranked my deodorant stick all the way to the top, and then back down enough to be capped.
Before you take umbrage, remember that standard procedure is to detonate any passengerless bags. So I'm actually quite satisfied with the ultimate result.
