Every Dozen Years or So

For the first time in far too long, I went and had a physical this morning. 8am, to be precise. To do this, I had to drop the kids off at school for "Early Care" (as opposed to "After-Care"). Unfortunately, "Early Care" wasn't as early as I had assumed. Fortunately, the school super (and all-around swell guy) had just shown up with his daughter, so my kids got to get into the building anyway. Unfortunately, nobody bothered to tell the central office this, so they called me up to chew me out. I acknowledged the misunderstanding was mine.
But anyway, I went to my physical. I have blood pressure, but it's higher than I suspected. (I suspected lower because when I gave blood around ten weeks ago, it was measured then and was lower than it was today.) I still have a thyroid. My left knee is now confirmed arthritic, but not a bad case of it. My doctor agrees that I should avoid concussive exercize. Unfortunately, he disagrees that I should also avoid non-concussive exercize.
He checked out the skin bumps I have on my jawline and my shin, declared the former to be a mole that gets shaved, and declared the latter to be something fibroid. I had to turn my head and cough twice, and he confirmed that I also still have a prostate. He then checked my blood pressure again, which was within round-off distance to the first measurement; I wonder whether blood pressure usually reads high directly after a prostate check.
Then I got to skip merrily down the hall to have two test-tubes of blood drawn. One will be checking for things like cholesterol, and the other will check for various nasty diseases, syndromes, etc. My father was diagnosed with polycythemia, which is an inflammation of the political science. Anyway, my dad was told that this is hereditary, and my doctor said that it wasn't, and the people I donated blood to didn't care (or found an absence of it, or something). Anyway, it's being double-checked.
I also got my anti-tetanus/pertussis/diphtheria shot. It was less of a deal than any of the four shots I get every month for my allergies.
So that's about it. Thanks to a family history which includes (successful removal of) skin cancer, I get to make annual appointments to have my skin checked out. And for some reason, he wants me to see a dentist again, despite my having seen one in 1994.
