The Controversial Survey

1. Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
Yes
2. Would you do meth if it was legalized?
No. Caffeine is stimulant enough for me. It's frequently too much.
3. Abortion: for or against it?
Against the need for it, for it as the best option in many cases, and it must remain legal or women die in botched attempts.
4. Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
Badly phrased question. Indira Ghandi, Golda Meir, Bennazir Bhutto, Margaret Thatcher, etc. were female presidents, and the world didn't "fail" (for most definitions of "fail"). The presidency of the United States does not comprise "the world".
5. Do you believe in the death penalty?
No. I believe in defending one's self (or others) with force majeur if necessary, but once a criminal has been caught and tried, there is no need to put them to death.
6. Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Yes.
7. Are you for or against premarital sex?
For it, even for my daughters. You wouldn't buy a pair of shoes without trying them on first.
8. Do you believe in God?
Whose? And as what? Do I believe in YaHooWaHoo as the sole creator of all that is? No. Do I believe that Mama Gaia cares more about us than she does about lichen? No.
You should probably take all that as a "no".
9. Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
Yes.
10. Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
They should be able to do so legally.
11. A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
She already has the baby? She's going to need all the help she can get, whether or not she keeps it. She surely shouldn't be automatically emancipated just because of this, but where were her parents when this was going on?
Sounds like there are two children in desperate need of outside help.
12. Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
Should adults have the right to drink? Yes.
13. Should the war in Iraq be called off?
Yes. Declare victory, dismantle the operation, and withdraw in a sane, safe manner. Unfortunately, a good number of those troops are needed in Afghanistan.
14. Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
No. This is another case where the government is interfering with a medical decision.
15. Do you believe in spanking your children?
Have two children. Haven't spanked them yet. But one's a teenager now; ask again later.
16. Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
Yes. I'd burn an American flag for free if it were tattered or soiled.
17. Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?
Coke or Pepsi? Coke. Okay, Obama. But once again, I'm not happy with the limits on my choice.
18. Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
I answer in public exactly to be judged. Here I am. Judge me.
But don't pass judgement on me (see #5).
I have seen a couple of results to this "controversial survey" whose answers didn't match mine, but these differences were minor (e.g. swatting a child who is actively reaching for a hot stove). So this meme was likely generated outside of my tribe, and my tribe is of one mind on these ostensibly cutting-edge questions.
Given the national news (I don't know of the current national polling on these issues), I don't think these questions are cherry-picked for uniformity. The last electoral poll I saw had Obama with 286 and McCain with 252 (for example), so uniformity on the candidate question is definitely a sampling error.
I think what this does show is how voluntary communities self-organize based on point-of-view. This has its own hazards, most notably convincing members of the tribe that "everyone thinks like I do".
